Assam Tea BOP (Organic) - Broken Leaf Orange Pekoe (BOP) from the Assam Valley, India is the quintessential black Indian tea. Assam T.G.F.O.P (Organic Fair Trade)-  Assam Black Tea from the mountains of southern India. Being T.G.F.O.P , it contains many lighter golden tan tips of the tea adding more depth of taste. Characters: full body flavor, rich malty flavor.  (SW) Coming soon

Ceylon Tea  H.O.P (Organic Faire Trade) – Black Camellia sinensis from Sri Lanka (formerly Colony of Ceylon).  An excellent tea for afternoon sipping.  Has a bright flavor and a little less robust than an Assam Black Tea. Characters: Slightly dry, woody, citrusy, and light body. (F)  

Ceylon Tea B.O.P. – Black Camellia sinensis from Sri Lanka (formerly Colony of Ceylon). An afternoon tea that provides a bright flavor with mellow astringengency and less robust flavor than Assam black tea. Characters: Slightly dry, woody, citrusy, and light body.  Put a new twist on tea by serving Ceylon with a slice of orange, instead of lemon. Keemun Congou (FOP Organic) Keemun is considered one of the best Organic China Black Teas. Due to its superb bouquet, this particular black tea is often referred to as the “burgundy of teas”.   Full-bodied, sweet liquoring tea producing a dark red cup of infused tea. Is a high quality long leaf tea with a few tips. Great hot or cold (SW)

Kukicha Twig Tea (Organic Faire Trade)  - Consisting primarily of leaf stems and fine tea twigs, this low-caffeine tea produces a mild, woody-malty brew. Unlike leaf teas, kukicha is best prepared by simmering for 10 minutes. (F)

Lapsang Souchong Tea (Organic) - A smoked tea with a robust, roasted aroma and flavor, a cup of Lapsang Souchong. (F)  

Lychee Flavored Black Tea-  Lychee Black Tea is made from black tea which has been scented with the essence of lychee, a sweet tropical fruit. This tea has a natural, sweet, and very aromatic character. When brewed, the tea has a reddish brown hue and a light sweet honey-like taste. (SW)

Nepalese Black Tea (Kosher Organic)  This rare and exotic tea from the Himalayan region of Nepal is truly complex and has the flavor characteristics of both green and black tea. Because of its semi-fermented nature and the unique growing region it comes from, Nepalese Black tea produces a finish which is smooth to the taste buds, devoid of a rough edge, and the tannins do not linger. While this tea is suitable for most occasions, we have found it particularly delightful in the mornings and afternoons. Floral beginnings with a lightly tannic finish.  (MR)

Perry’s Citrus Grey (Organic Ingredients but not certified)-   A house blend of Irish breakfast tea, Lemon Peals, Orange Peels, Bergamot oil, Lemon essential oil and Orange essential oil. Similar to a Lady Grey (HB)  

Pu’erh (Kosher, Faire Trade, Organic) The black pu-erh tea Mountain Rose Herbs offers is hand harvested from wild and semi-wild broad leaf antique tea trees located in the Yunnan province of China. Pu-erh is often referred to as "cooked" due to the fact that sun-dried green tea leaves are transformed through natural fermentation from a greenish-golden color to a blackish-red tone. Over the years Pu-erh has garnered a committed following amongst tea connoisseurs who regard it as a sacred relic leftover from ancient tea cultures and traditions. Partially fermented which will appeal to the senses of both the black tea lover and the green tea lover. Deep and earthy, with light notes of smoke and moss. (MR)  

Pu’erh (Organic) Pu-erh is a unique and unusual slightly aged tea, famed for its medicinal qualities. It is unusual because unlike other teas, it uses an accelerated fermentation process called The Wo Dui (wet-piling) process, which involves piling, dampening, and turning the tea leaves. This process ensures even fermentation. Pu-erh is the most oxidized form of tea and can mellow and improve with age like fine wine. It’s distinct flavor comes from the fact that, after the leaves are picked, they are made into a sundried base tea called maocha, and then fermented. It produces a dark red liquor with a full-bodied, earthy taste.(SW)

Se Chung Special Oolong Tea (Organic) - Camellia sinensis. A woody astringency and the nuance of fresh peaches distinguish the remarkable aroma and flavor of this tea. Oolong is also referred to by its Chinese pinyin translation "Wu Long." (F)  

Vanilla Black Tea (Kosher, Faire Trade, Organic) An intoxicating blend of organic vanilla, organic fair trade Assam tea from India, and organic chrysanthemum flowers. Yunnan Tea (Organic) - Camellia sinensis. There's an exciting, slightly peppery flavor to this brisk, malty tea. It makes a wonderful breakfast tea and a tasty iced tea. (F)  



The grades for whole leaf orthodox black tea are: Ceylon orange pekoe (OP) grades
  • OP—Orange Pekoe: main grade, consisting of long wiry leaf without tips
    • OP1—more delicate than OP; long, wiry leaf with the light liquor
    • OPA—bolder than OP; long leaf tea which ranges from tightly wound to almost open
    • OPS—Orange Pekoe Superior: primarily from Indonesia, similar to OP
  • FOP—Flowery Orange Pekoe: high-quality tea with a long leaf and few tips, considered the second grade in Assam, Dooars, and Bangladesh teas, but the first grade in China
    • FOP1: limited to only the highest quality leaves in the FOP classification
  • GFOP—Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe: higher proportion of tip than FOP. Top grade in Milima and Marinyn regions, uncommon in Assam and Darjeeling
  • TGFOP—Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe: the highest proportion of tip, main grade in Darjeeling and Assam
    • TGFOP1—limited to only the highest quality leaves in the TGFOP classification
  • FTGFOP[a]—Finest Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe: highest quality grade
    • FTGFOP1 or STGFOP or SFTGFOP—limited to only the highest quality leaves in the FTGFOP classification
Broken leaf grades
  • BT—Broken Tea: Usually a black, open, fleshy leaf that is very bulky. Classification used in Sumatra, Ceylon(Sri Lanka), and some parts of Southern India.
  • BP—Broken Pekoe: Most common broken pekoe grade. From Indonesia, Ceylon(Sri Lanka), Assam and Southern India.
  • BPS—Broken Pekoe Souchong: Term for broken pekoe in Assam and Darjeeling.
  • FP—Flowery Pekoe: High-quality pekoe. Usually coarser with a fleshier, broken leaf. Produced in Ceylon(Sri Lanka) and Southern India, as well as in some parts of Kenya.
  • BOP—Broken Orange Pekoe: Main broken grade. Prevalent in Assam, Ceylon(Sri Lanka), Southern India, Java, and China.
  • F BOP—Flowery Broken Orange Pekoe: Coarser and broken with some tips. From Assam, Ceylon(Sri Lanka), Indonesia, China, and Bangladesh. In South America coarser, black broken.
  • F BOP F—Finest Broken Orange Pekoe Flowery: The finest broken orange pekoe. Higher proportion of tips. Mainly from Ceylon's "low districts".
  • G BOP—Golden Broken Orange Pekoe: Second grade tea with uneven leaves and few tips.
  • GF BOP1—Golden Flowery Broken Orange Pekoe 1: As above, but with only the highest quality leaves in the GFBOP classification.
  • TGF BOP1—Tippy Golden Flowery Broken Orange Pekoe 1: High-quality leaves with a high proportion of tips. Finest broken First Grade Leaves in Darjeeling and some parts of Assam.
